The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 lands on Netflix today from Spain, plus two NHK Japanese dramas join the catalog

Three titles arrive on Netflix US this Sunday, led by the Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride zombie spinoff's penultimate season fresh from AMC, with the Spain-set spaghetti-Western run sitting at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Two NHK Japanese dramas, the aviation asadora Soar High! and the workplace dramedy You Can't Expense This!, round out the new arrivals, while Spooky in Love and The Apartment Job drop fresh weekend episodes. The pick of the day: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Season 3

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returns to Netflix US today for its third season, nine months after the run wrapped on AMC, and it is the strongest case the spinoff has made for itself so far. Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are back as Daryl and Carol, still trying to get home to Ohio the long way around, and this time the detour dumps them in Spain. The shape of the season. Seven episodes, the first a Channel Tunnel palate-cleanser set in England before the action relocates to Spain for the remaining six. The production shot on location across the Costa da Morte in Galicia, Sepúlveda in Segovia, and Barcelona, and showrunner David Zabel leans hard into spaghetti-Western framing, low-angle shots between Daryl's legs and all. Stephen Merchant guests as a delightfully quirky Englishman who kicks the journey off, and the Spanish side brings in Eduardo Noriega as Antonio, Oscar Jaenada as Fede, and Alexandra Masangkay as Paz, a Spanish-cowboy loner who cosplayers are going to love. The critics are mostly won over. The season holds an 83% Tomatometer from 6 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 60% from 100+ ratings. CBR gives it 8/10 and calls it "the best the franchise has been in a while," Show Snob lands at 9/10 praising Daryl and Carol's synergy, and Paste and IGN each give 7/10. Why this drop matters now. AMC renewed Daryl Dixon for a fourth and final season at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2025, Reedus and company wrapped filming on those last episodes in June 2026, and Season 4 is expected to air on AMC this fall. With Seasons 1 and 2 already on Netflix US, today's Season 3 arrival is effectively a catch-up window before the endgame, and the Spain-set run is the one that finally clicks the spinoff into place. Morning Drama Series Soar High! is NHK's 107th asadora, the network's beloved 15-minute morning-drama slot, originally aired from October 2022 to March 2023, all 126 episodes of it. Haruka Fukuhara stars as Mai Iwakura, a shy Higashi-Osaka girl who, after watching baramon kites soar over her grandmother's Goto Islands home, sets her sights on becoming a pilot, a gentle coming-of-age story built around manufacturing-town community and a homemade electric plane. There is no US critic consensus, and none is really the point, it is for the audience that already mainlines NHK's asadora serials and the slower end of Japanese drama. You Can't Expense This! is a 2019 NHK workplace dramedy in 10 episodes, based on Yuko Aoki's light novel, with Mikako Tabe as Sanako Moriwaka, a meticulous single accountant at a soap company who treats life like a balance sheet and quietly sniffs out the suspicious stories hiding in her colleagues' expense reports. It is a calm, workplace-procedural cousin to the accounting-and-fraud itch you might scratch with a quieter anime or a J-drama like Mother, MyDramaList reviewers land around 8.5/10, and a planned second season was scrapped after Tabe exited when the original cast and crew could not return, so what lands today is the complete series.
