The Ultimatum Season 4 lands from Las Vegas, plus Snowden and the Amazon-canceled Tick reboot hit Netflix today

Three titles landed on Netflix US this Wednesday: a new Las Vegas-set season of the marriage-ultimatum reality series, Oliver Stone's Snowden, and the cult Amazon superhero comedy The Tick jumping platforms. Side Effects departs Netflix today.
The pick of the day: The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, Season 4
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On returns for its fourth season today, and this time the dating experiment has moved to Las Vegas. The format is unchanged: six couples who cannot agree on marriage enter the experiment, one partner in each pair issues the ultimatum, and over eight weeks they split up and move into trial marriages with someone else before deciding to wed or walk away. Nick and Vanessa Lachey host, as in every season.
- The first eight episodes drop today as a single batch; the finale and reunion follow on Wednesday, July 22, for ten episodes in total (Netflix Tudum, June 29).
- The six couples are Hayley and Blake, Ashley and Killian, Casey and David, Monica and Luke, Jessica Grace and Edris, and Alex and Jebin, together anywhere from two to six years. One pair has known each other since they were teenagers; another is wrestling with religious and cultural differences and disapproving parents (Netflix Tudum, July 1).
- No critic consensus yet, which is normal for a reality drop on day one. If you have watched prior seasons, this is more of the same churn with a Sin City backdrop; the draw is the chaos, not the novelty.
Snowden (2016)
Snowden, Oliver Stone's biographical thriller about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, joins the catalog today. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Snowden, with Shailene Woodley, Zachary Quinto, Melissa Leo, and Nicolas Cage in support. It runs 2 hours 14 minutes, is rated R, and earned mixed reviews on its 2016 release, landing at 61% on Rotten Tomatoes, where critics broadly liked Gordon-Levitt's lead performance but felt Stone played a wild true story too cautiously (Rotten Tomatoes). A competent, slightly reverent primer on how the leaks happened, for anyone who missed it the first time.
The Tick, Seasons 1-2 (2017-2019)
The Tick is the 2017 Amazon Prime reboot of Ben Edlund's blue-suited superhero satire, not the 2001 Patrick Warburton Fox series that arrived on Netflix last week. Peter Serafinowicz stars as the nigh-invulnerable, cheerfully oblivious Tick, with Griffin Newman as his anxious accountant sidekick Arthur and Jackie Earle Haley as the supervillain the Terror. Amazon canceled it after two seasons and 22 episodes despite strong reviews, 90% on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 1 and a perfect 100% for Season 2 (Rotten Tomatoes), and a fan campaign to save it never found a new home (Variety, May 2019). Now it has one. This is the cult-favorite pickup of the week for anyone who likes their superhero comedy weird and self-aware.
Leaving this week
- Side Effects (2013) departs Netflix today, July 15. Steven Soderbergh's twisty pharmaceutical thriller stars Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, and Jude Law and still holds 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. If it has been sitting on your list, today is the day to watch it (Netflix Tudum).
- The Saw franchise leaves Sunday, July 19, all eight installments: Saw, Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw: The Final Chapter, and Jigsaw. Spiral is not part of this batch. A ready-made horror binge before the weekend closes out (Netflix Tudum).
